Jimmy Trull captures tournament title
Bellevue’s Jimmy Trull captured the 215-pound weight class championship at the Jack Reynolds Scholarship Fund’s Tournament of Excellence held Saturday at Mercer Island.
Trull defeated the Islanders’ TJ Blackburn in the championship match. It was the third time the two have met this season, with Trull winning two of the three.
Bellevue had several top-five finishers, including Matt Casimes, who took second in 119. Other finishers were Alex Mack (5th, 119), Ben Matteucci (5th, 125), Andy Ewing (3rd, 130), Jun Park (3rd, 135), Connor Hudson (3rd, 140), Peter Ovens (3rd, 145) and Colin Small (5th, 152).
Bellevue finished fifth as a team. Yelm won the tournaent.
Registration open for Eastside Lions Youth Rugby Club
Registration for the Eastside Lions Youth Rugby Club is underway. The Jr. Lions (1st-5th grade) practice Sundays, 11am-1pm at Chinook Middle School. u14s (6th-8th), u16s (Frosh/Soph) & u19s (Jr/Sr) practice Tues/Thurs, 4:30-6:30 at Interlake High School. Interlake alum has big night
Interlake graduate Sarah Anderegg had a career night last week, as the freshman forward scored a career-high 19 points to help Whitman College beat Willamette 74-71 .
Anderegg also grabbed seven rebounds for Whitman (8-5).
