Select baseball teams from throughout the area will be back on the diamond Wednesday for the Seattle Premier League Invitational, with the Championship round taking place on Sunday at Husky Ballpark on the campus of the University of Washington. Teams from as far away as Spokane will converge on the Eastside and Seattle for the tournament, which features 22 teams divided into four divisions. In addition to the UW, Magnuson Park and Denny Field, tournament games will also be played at Bellevue College, Bannerwood Park, Interlake High School and Sammamish High School.
Taylor will get things started on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 against the Seattle Dodgers at Bellevue College. Other games tomorrow include Lakeside Industries and Mudville Pinnacle, En Fuego and Narrows, Rips Brewers and Baden Red and Taylor facing off against Buzz Baseball from Federal Way.
More information, including a complete tournament schedule, can be found at the official Seattle Premier League website. Not sure which games to check out? Bellevue-area players and their summer teams are listed here.
One of the guys suiting up for En Fuego is Jared Fisher, a 2011 Newport grad who also pitched in the All-State series in Yakima. Fisher’s Team St. Helens overwhelmed the all-stars for Team Rainier in a 10-2 victory as the Astros draftee and UW commit tossed four innings in the win. Fisher had a double, two runs scored and a pair of RBI in the second game, which was also won by Team St. Helens behind a strong pitching performance from Bothell’s Brian McAfee.
