Christmas may be over, but the holidays are still in full swing. Take in the magic of The Nutcracker on Tuesday, December 29 at Group Health’s Ice Arena at Bellevue Park, presented by Overlake Service League and the Bellevue Downtown Association. Young figure skaters from the Northwest will present a 15-minute performance of excerpts from the classic fairy-tale “The Nutcracker” starting at 10:00 a.m. The skaters will perform to the original score by Tchaikovsky.

After the brief performance, the entire Group Health Ice Arena will be open to everyone for a free community skate until 11:00 a.m. The free skate includes complimentary admission and skate rental.

Donations will be graciously accepted on behalf of the Overlake Service League.

“This year there is a shift in focus with an emphasis on community participation at Bellevue’s Group Health Ice Arena,” said local businesswoman Lisa Viereck, coordinator of this community event. “In years past the Nutcracker on Ice performances were delivered more elaborately, but this year is it’s about celebrating and embracing community participation on the ice. With the Winter Olympics drawing closer the interest in figure skating is growing.”
