Escape from the heat, grab a cold one

Wednesday’s scorcher makes today seem slightly more bearable with temperatures ranging in the low 90s.

Still, the air conditioned spaces in and around Bellevue hold a certain appeal in this hot weather. Whether you are looking for a shaded place to catch a quick cat nap or a casual restaurant setting to grab a cold beer, here are a number of options to keep you cool and out of the sun’s rays. 

  • Downtown Bellevue Park, 10201 NE 4th Street   – Find refuge from the hot sun under the shaded tent of the trees lining the fountain at the park. 
  • Bellevue Square Mall, at NE 8th Street and Bellevue Way   - Relish the cool air and get your shop on at this downtown Bellevue staple. Walk over the sky bridge to Lincoln Square for a movie at Lincoln Square Cinemas or a game of pool at The Parlor Collection. 
  • Grand Cru Wine Bar, 1020 108th Ave NE   -Enjoy half priced wines by the glass and half priced small plates Tuesday – Saturday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to close.
  • Crossroads Shopping Center, NE 8th & 156th Ave. NE  -Dine at one of the many international food restaurants inside the shopping center or pop into the library for a good read. 
  • Vertigo Lounge and Grill, 938 110th Ave NE  -Climb the steps to dine at this restaurant and lounge known for its signature dishes and contemporary  atmosphere. 
  • Spray Play Park at Crossroads Park,  16000 NE 10th Street  - Take your little ones or bring out the kid in you again at the water play area located at Crossroads Park. 
  • The Spot Off Main, 20 103rd Ave NE  -The bar, located off Old Main Street in Bellevue, offers free pool until 8 p.m. and a great happy hour from 4 to 8 p.m. daily. 
  • Joeys, 118-800 Bellevue Way NE  -Looking for a cold drink to help you cool off after work? Stop by Joeys for the popular Super Sonic Gin and Tonic.
  • Bellevue Regional Library, 1111 110th Ave NE  -Grab a good book or magazine and enjoy the cooler temperatures of the indoor public library. 
  • Rock Bottom in Bellevue, 550 106th Ave NE # 103  -Stop by for a cold one and to catch the game on any number of the restaurants large screen TVs. the-spot-off-main-2
